KEEP PRAYING!

Have you ever heard the expression, “Praying is not enough, after you’ve prayed then you must get up and do something!”?  I’ve often struggled with this statement because there are plenty of times when I’ve been led to only pray. In fact, my passion is praying.  Recently, someone asked me what I like to do, and my first inclination was to say “pray.”  However, before I could say anything, my mind talked me out of that response. I thought, “prayer is not tangible, she will think you are weird and lazy.” Where did such a harsh criticism of myself originate? I am sure the enemy planted the seed a while ago and now it’s manifesting. I’ve often told myself that there is no way you can justify leaving the corporate marketplace to pray! However, the Holy Spirit reminded me that, “Anna was called to pray.”

For those of us who are unfamiliar with the story, it can be found in Luke 2:36 -38. The bible says Anna was a widow prophet that worshipped God through prayer and fasting. In fact, that is literally how she spent her time. When Jesus was born, his parents took him to the temple to be dedicated. When Anna saw him, she praised and worshipped God and proclaimed that Jesus was the promised Messiah! Imagine having that type of insight! To the common spectator Jesus was just a beautiful baby. (That is my embellishment, but I can’t imagine Jesus, the savior of the world being an ugly baby!) On a more serious note, this scripture gives me confidence that praying is not passive, lazy or an unfinished job. It is necessary for the birthing of miracles.

If you are called to pray, then do just that. Some are called to the frontline to fight for justice, preach the gospel, be missionaries, influencers in the marketplace or kingdom distributors. All these roles are necessary because the body of Christ is made of many members. However, to the intercessors, be encouraged, you are doing a great work for the Lord. Don’t feel idle or ineffective because you are only praying. Stay the course and know that through your prayers, the Lord’s will is manifested in the earth. As my bishop often says, “nothing is done until something is said!

Me personally, I’ll keep praying because God has been gracious enough to give me many testimonies, including saved souls, healed bodies, mended relationships, obtained promotions, new job opportunities, and delivered family members. The enemy’s plans have been thwarted all through my partnering with his people in prayer! Hallelujah!

If you would like for me to agree with you in prayer, please submit a prayer request here on my website.
